I grew up in Denver, graduated from Brigham Young University - Idaho, spent 3 great years in Las Vegas, and now live in Salt Lake. I work for a marketing company in Ogden. I'm the youngest of six children and an aunt to 27 1/2 kids. I've lived in 9 states and visited 36. I make wishes at 11:11 and love the magic of falling snow. I'm pretty serious, but love being goofy on the side. Just when you think you've figured me out, I'll surprise you...guaranteed!

The Truth
I've been writing a lot in my journal these days. I have lots of reason to do so. After a heart-wrenching ending of an engagement to someone I loved so much and was so excited to spend eternity with, I've been diagnosed with cancer. And now I got laid off my job. Luckily, they understand my critical need for insurance right now, so they have given me the consolation job of being the receptionist. So now I'm driving an hour for a different job, lost the love of my life (and who would want to date someone with cancer?), and might get to be be injected with poison and/or radioactive rods. Awesome. At least the trees are flowering outside for spring. I should have been born a cat.

Going Crazy
I'm literally going crazy right now. I'm expecting a very important phone call that will potentially change my life. No, it is not a guy calling for a date...although I thought when Jeff Condie called me for a date when I was 16 my life would change forever. Nevertheless, I check my phone literally 50 times a day to see if I've missed the call. The call is supposed to come this week. It's Thursday...they are running out of time...and I'm going CRAZY in the meantime!!!

Moving Boxes
Moving boxes make me sad. They mean change. Change, whether expected or not, is kind of sad. It means someone is leaving and someone is being left behind.

A Strange Conclusion

A lot of people have been dying recently. My boss Lisa and I talk about it at lunch sometimes. Many people are being called Home. I've concluded that if I had a choice about death, I would hope that my death would lead to someone close to me (family member or friend) to coming back to the church and returning to Christ. That is how I would prefer to go. That is the outcome I wish for. He is the reason I am here. He is why I try to live a good life and help others on the way. He is my hope. He is the only way I can return home. He is my Savior. He is my friend.

Man Cold
So, I've had a relapse of the West Nile Lesbian Bird Flu Black Plague from last year. Ok, so it isn't the same illness, but it was enough for me to miss two days of work...which says a lot. I've been blessed with an awesome immune system for which I am very grateful. I usually just get a cold in the fall and am less than 100% my usual smiley self. I'm very independent though, even when I'm sick, and am not a burden to anyone during the time. I try not to ask for things and I don't want sympathy...unlike most guys. My friend showed me this clever video from London and I just had to laugh. I don't understand why guys are such babies when it come to being sick. They're the stronger gender. They are the hunters and the protectors. Why do they whine so much when they get a little sniffle. I mean, REALLY???

Hare Krishna

I had a blast last Saturday with Kathy and Paul at the Holi festival at the Sri Sri Radha Krishna temple in Spanish Fork, UT. Yeah, it is weird to see an Indian temple in the middle of a small town in Utah, but hey...they throw a good party. The Holi festival is the welcoming of spring and the celebration of colors. The main festivity (that we were slightly too late to participate in) is the Throwing of the Colors. You buy little bags of dyed chalk dust (I have no idea what it is actually made out of) and throw it at each other in a massive mosh pit area of 300+ people. It is crazy. Everyone was caked with different colors on their clothes and on their faces. I can't wait for next year when I'll actually get to participate fully. The festival was fun though. They had food and crafts for sale. A petting zoo of llamas. Beautiful peacocks making some crazy sounds. Macaws that say hello. Line dancing in the temple. Ok, so it wasn't exactly line dancing, but kinda. It was a ton of fun. I've realized I'm really into going to these cultural festivals. It started in London with the Themes River Festival and has included the Irish festival, the Hare Krishna festival, and will continue with the Scottish Festival in June.
Dudes Dig Chicks With Scars!

So, it has almost been a week since had the surgery, but it is still worth noting. I'm going to have an AWESOME scar now (well, two if you count the one from my appendectomy). The dermatologist removed a marble sized tumor from just below my skin on my shoulder. He thinks it is benign, but still has to run some tests. I have stitches now...a first for me. The doctor thinks I'm weird because I'm really excited about the two inch scar. At least this scar is in a more appropriate place to show off! When people ask me how I got it...I tell him I got it in a knife fight. It just sounds cooler.
